Ms Sophie Burrows
Head of Year 7
Sophie has
been a qualified teacher since 2016, and joined Jumeirah College in 2022.
Having studied for her undergraduate in History and Politics in Newcastle
between 2012 and 2015, Sophie undertook her PGCE in Manchester between 2015-16.
Sophie worked as a History and Politics teacher in Liverpool, UK before
relocating to Dubai after gaining six years of invaluable teaching and pastoral
experience.
Sophie’s
experience and passion both for academics and student well-being has helped her
to ensure students feel well supported through their school journey. In 2023
Sophie was promoted to the role of Pastoral Leader and in 2024 to the role of
Head of Year 7. In both her pastoral and teaching role, Sophie is wholly
committed to ensuring the best for Jumeirah College students, and believes that
education is about so much more than the grades you leave with. As Head of
Year, Sophie strives to ensure that all of her year group try their best
consistently in and out of the classroom, whilst ensuring an important balance
between their academic studies and ECA’s.
Sophie
believes that the Jumeirah College core values should be at the heart of all we
do, and if we can be kind and treat people with respect, then we will be
successful.
