Mrs Kelly Pegna
Head of Performing Arts
Kelly’s passion for the stage led her to London after securing a place at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, one of the top five drama schools in the world. There, she earned her BA (Hons) in Acting and went on to gain professional acting credits on both the stage as well as in a TV series and a feature film, showcasing her talent across multiple platforms.
During her professional training, Kelly discovered a deep passion and natural gift for inspiring others through drama education. This calling led her to pursue a teaching qualification at the University of Surrey, where she graduated with distinction, earning an Outstanding grade upon completion. Her training solidified her expertise not only as a performer but also as an exceptional educator dedicated to nurturing young talent.
Kelly began her teaching career in London, where she spent two years developing her classroom practice and directing innovative school productions. However, the sunny skies of the UAE soon beckoned, and she made the move to Abu Dhabi. There, she successfully led the Performing Arts Department at her previous school, elevating its reputation through dynamic productions and an inclusive, student-centered approach to drama education.
Now, Kelly is incredibly honoured and excited to take on the role of Head of Drama at Jumeirah College. She looks forward to building upon the school’s already thriving – small but mighty – drama department, continuing to inspire creativity, confidence, and a love for the performing arts in every student. Her vision is to take Jumeirah College Drama to new heights, ensuring it remains a hub of artistic excellence and opportunity.
