Mr Martin Squires

Head of Business & Economics
Having graduated from Cardiff Business School with a BSc in Business Management, Martin began his career in the commercial sector, working for two international companies before moving into education. His roles took him around the globe, providing him with invaluable real-world insights into how businesses operate in diverse markets—experience that continues to enrich his teaching.

He first joined Jumeirah College in 2015, where he taught Business and Economics for two years before returning to the UK. There, he held a range of leadership roles including Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Head of Business and also completed the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML). In 2024, he returned to Jumeirah College and was appointed Head of Business & Economics in 2025.

His passion lies in making Business and Economics relevant, engaging, and dynamic for students. He is committed to bridging the gap between academic study and the real world, regularly enhancing the curriculum with guest speakers from industry and policy-making, including advisors from the Bank of England, government economists, the Institute of Economic Affairs, and internationally renowned academics & entrepreneurs. He believes that in such fast-evolving subjects, staying up to date with global events is not just beneficial—but essential.
