Welcome to Year 9 ART at Jumeirah College
In year 9, students will be encouraged to explore and develop ideas. They will record a range of information from first hand observations. They will make and investigate in areas or art, craft and design. Students will research the works of other artist and designers in order for them to develop their work appropriate. Students will be encouraged to evaluate their own work and the work of their peers.
Curriculum Organisation
Students have 1 lesson a week and are taught in mixed ability groups. Lessons are well structured and students are provided with a range of materials and resources.

Term 3: Environment
Independent Study
-All students will need to practise their drawing skills at home. Specific tasks will be set. -Students will be expected to research the works of artists and designers.
-One homework every two weeks will be set during the project.
Assessment and Reporting
-Projects last for the duration of one term.
-Students will be given a set task at the beginning of the year, from this work, the students will be set a target level to achieve by the end of the year. This will be referred to when assessing all work.
-We use the school-wide monitoring system for marking sketchbooks with traffic light and written comments where appropriate.
-The National Curriculum levels are referred to in class and during all assessment activities.
Extra Curricular Opportunities in Art
We currently have a Fashion Illustration club and Textiles club for KS3.
