Year 7
Welcome to Year 7 Geography
Curriculum Organisation
2 periods per week
Teaching groups are of mixed ability and students remain in their form groups for these.
The work covered is from a variety of textbooks including Foundations and geog.1 and is supplemented by numerous worksheets and videos
Independent Study
Homework will be set each week according to the timetable
All homework and deadlines will be recorded in students’ planners.
Homework should be completed to the highest standard and presentation should follow the department’s guidelines.
Students are encouraged to use geographically relevant websites to consolidate learning in class.
There will be a selection of enquiry-based, learning activities for homeworks. We also encourage students to watch relevant documentaries whenever possible. Geography is ‘on your doorstep’ so always be observant!
Assessment and Reporting
Parents will receive progress reports on a regular basis
Selected pieces of homework and classwork are assessed throughout the year according to National Curriculum guidelines and a National Curriculum level of attainment will be given.
Students are provided with a sheet in the front of their exercise books in which they can record their progress. This also displays the marking criteria used by the department.
There will be a formal examination at the end of the year based on most / all of the topics covered.
