Welcome to Economics at Jumeirah College
Economics is a subject which provides students with an understanding of how societies create and manage material wellbeing.
The Economics department at Jumeirah College aims to provide students with the tools to understand and succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy. We offer Economics at both GCSE and A Level and we follow the AQA specifications for both of these awards. Economics is a modular course and students will be assessed in national examinations in each year group so it is important for students to be prepared for exams right from the start.
Students are advised to keep up to date with current affairs as this will help to contextualize the theory which is covered in class. Students will need to develop their critical thinking abilities in order to succeed in Economics. Students will be encouraged to investigate the different approaches to economic problems and understand how different groups of individuals have tackled these problems over time. Students are advised to read a quality newspaper and follow economic events in the media.
